Choosing your style

As a professional wedding photographer I have a style of my own.  I can however fine tune that style to suit the needs of a particular couple

There are two sorts of wedding photography style: shooting style, and editing style

Shooting style

Shooting style is pretty much the most important.  There are several major shooting styles, and at the extremes they are fully formal through to purely photo-journalistic.  Most professional photographers can sway towards one style or the other.  However if you are looking for only a very firm formal style, we are probably not the photographers for you

We shoot in a mainly photo journalistic wedding photography style.  This means we shoot things as they happen, and in the main do not set too many things up.  However, of course we shoot the normal formal shots, and we are very experienced at doing this

There are wedding photographers who shoot in a “fashion style” their work is in the direction of fashion magazines.  Whilst we can shoot like this, this style is quite imposing on the bride and groom in terms of photography time.  If you want this sort of photography, you need to allow for reasonable time slots to actually get the photography done.  In our experience, couples don’t want to do this.  It can be an option after the wedding for the bride and groom to have a half day photo session on location or in a studio

Editing style

Once the wedding photography is completed, the hard work begins.  Editing wedding photographs well is very time consuming.  The style of editing can make a dramatic difference to the look of the final wedding photographs.  Again we have our own editing style; we do a lot of black and white conversions, and split toning

We like many professional photographers also have a few in-house editing styles we can however pretty much edit the wedding photographs as the couple wishes.  To give an idea of the amount of work involved, we allow about a week to edit a wedding, and we can spend hours post processing a single wedding photograph
